Road trip

I woke up at six and hit the gym.  I made myself lift legs which is always hard but good.  I will try and remember what I did....

Back squats-10
*repeat 3 times

Static squats with DB-15 each leg
Bridges on bench with added weight-15
Deadlifts with BB-15
*repeat three times

Side lunges with 25 pd. plate-10 each leg
*repeat three times

Quad machine-till failure

Sled-10 with 200 added pounds
*repeat three times

I threw in some abs occasionally in between sets.  My friend Kristi who is also an instructor at the gym was going to do spin...not a class, just for cardio.  So I joined her and she kicked my trash.  I only did cardio for about twenty minutes though and then I took off.

Breakfast.  Sometimes my pictures turn for me and sometimes they don't.  I made protein pumpkin pancakes and ate it with plain greek yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, and pumpkin pie spice.  So yummy.

Lunch was sushi shared with the hubs.  Winco has brown rice sushi!  I was stoked to discover this.

We left today for a road trip to Colorado.  These are my road trip snacks....cuz ya know, I might starve in the four hours we were in the car.  Veggies, crackers, jerky, cheese, nuts, dried fruit, sunflower seeds, and rice cakes.  We did have a couple other treats for our sweet tooth's that were bound to show up.

Of course I packed a stash of these in case I needed a quick meal.  I love these protein bars.

My diaper caddy makes and excellent snack holder for the car.  It made my trip so much more organized.  And the hubs truck stayed cleaner so it was a win win.

We take one of these pictures on every road trip we take.  So I had to post it of course.

"You hold the bag open and I will stuff them in your mouth."  Luc feeding Olls her suga.

I kinda got addicted to these little mints on the way down.  So yummy but not so good for me.

Here is where we will be relaxing this weekend.  This beautiful house that is right up against the Colorado Monument.  Joey's aunt and uncle have graciously let us stay with them all weekend.  We have been meaning to come down forever and visit but we have been way to busy and it just hasn't happened.  But we are here and the party is just getting started.

These guys are food snobs and I love it.  They know their food and always cook us great stuff.  They also have the best stories.  I could listen to them for hours.   We also seem to have a lot in common so the conversations are endless people.

We had turkey chili, salad, and bread for dinner upon our arrival.  It was so yummy.  Thanks Janet!

I polished it off with an M&M cookie.  It has been a great day and I am so excited to just hang out this weekend.

Well that sucked

My run absolutely sucked.  I think it was my all time hardest, crappiest, run to date.  I really wanted to do 13 miles.  Guess what?  I only did 8.25 and that was pushing it with all the strength I had in me.  It was pathetic.  I don't know what my deal was.  Maybe I am still recovering and weak from all my sickness, maybe it's cuz I haven't done a lot of cardio in the last two weeks, maybe it was the caffeine.  I'm guessing it was a combo of all of the above but it.was.hard.  My sister had to finish without me cuz I ran into my other sisters house begging, crying, pleading, for a ride to my car.  Weak sauce peeps.  At least I got some lifting in this morning.  Not much but better than nothing.  I worked back and biceps:

DB curls-20
Single leg DB row-15 each side
*repeat three times

Lat pulldowns-15
*repeat three times

Back row kneeling on bench with one arm on ball-15 each arm
Chin-ups-7
*repeat three times

Bicep curl on pulley-15
One arm row on pulley-10 each arm
*repeat three times

Breakfast was super exciting.  A bowl of cereal and a blender bottle protein shake.

I knew I would get hungry while waiting for the little one at gymnastics so I packed an on the go snack.  This is one of my favorite snacks ever.  Apples and peanut butter.

Pre run I had some chips and salsa and a granola bar.  I didn't want to eat too much because I was worried but it was a crap shoot anyway so I should have just eaten a meal.

Post run was a chocolate, banana, spinach, protein shake.  I was feeling really sick at this point, I'm thinking because of the caffeine overload....and couldn't finish this.  I haven't taken any caffeine in two weeks so it really affected me in a bad way.

I went to my guitar lesson and came home and laid on the couch wanting to barf.  I think I needed some real good calories in me.  So....

Hubs brought me one of these.  I ate half of it and drank some water and felt much better.  Food did my body good.  :)

I was going to ask who wanted to fold my pile of laundry but the hubs is doing it while I blog in bed.  He's a keeper...I'm tellin ya.

I don't have to wake up before five tomorrow!  Yay!  I'm sleeping in till six yo.

Family Pictures

We got our family pics done a couple of weeks ago.  My kids are crazy and that is what was captured.  The one below is the one I had blown up and put on canvas.  I think it's hilarious.

The hubs and I even got a couple of "engagements" done.  Haha....love them.

Questions

Is anyone sick of hearing me complain yet.  I can't get rid of this sickness and after hacking up a lung all night my husband strongly encouraged me to take the morning off from the gym.  I knew he was right but I hate not getting my workout in.  I hate it a lot.  Like more than anything.  I am planning on going on a long run tomorrow so I'm hoping taking today off will make a little better.  Ugh.

This is me in all my glory.  That pic describes how I feel.  Like crap...yet not a lot I can do about it, oh well.  I let you know how the run goes tomorrow.  Hopefully I can get to the gym for some strength training in the morning too.  Have a fabulous day peeps.

Weekend recap

We had a good/busy weekend.  Minus the fact that we are all still sick!  Mine has now moved into this chest thing.  Awesome.  Oh well, we will be better one day.

I did awesome on my no sugar all week so when the hubs and I went out Friday I couldn't wait to get ice cream.  I got the low fat kiddie size and ate the whole thing and it was worth every bite.  I am usually a lot more relaxed with my eating on weekends and this weekend was no exception.  I baked two batches of cookies...real cookies, not healthified ones.  High five for me.

My sister in law came down from Logan on Friday night so we got to hang out with her and her kids all day on Saturday.  I stayed up till one thirty talking with her and De.  When Sunday came I was one sick tired girl.

Let's recap some of the meals we had this weekend shall we?  Friday nights dinner was really random but really good.  It was really healthy and filling but I needed that ice cream we got after this dinner.

I cut some brussell sprouts and grapes in half, sprayed with pam, sprinkled on some fresh lemon juice, and salt and pepper.

Then I thought it might be good with nuts so I threw some pecans on there.  I placed this in a really hot oven 425 or so and baked/roasted for about 30 minutes.  I never knew roasted grapes could be so good.

I really didn't know if I would like it but it was really good and I will definatley be making it again.  Joey really liked it too.

I was planning on a long run on Saturday but since I haven't been feeling the best I decided against it.  I did got to the gym and got a good workout in though.  I stayed busy all day and went to bed really late.

When Sunday rolled around I was pooped.  That afternoon I fell asleep and thought my hubs would wake me up when he got home from church but he didn't, ( I'm not complaining) and I slept for two hours!  When I woke up he was in the kitchen with soup on the stove and homemade whole wheat/oat bread about to go in the oven.  Hello....wanna spoon?  I am so lucky to have him.

He made me such a healthy dinner.  Split pea soup with spinach salad and his homemade bread.  Seriously....I wanted to make out with him.  Just sayin.

He had to take off for a scout thing that evening so the kids and I went on a walk and then came home and sat on the porch.  That is the view from my front porch.  So gorgeous!

I got a good workout in this morning.  I warmed up with 20 minutes on the stairmaster and then went to the class I am trying out.  I was sweating good but don't know if I'll go back.  Unless it is spin classes just are not my thing I guess.  Have a good Monday!
