12 miles

This weekend has been so busy.  I didn't even have time to think.  Fridays workout consisted of a Jillian workout x2.  I always feel like I get such a great workout when I do her workout twice.  I skipped cardio because I was planning on a run the next morning.  Jillian is basically cardio though.  C'mon.

Bfast was a blender bottle shake and some eggs.  Bleh....but it filled up my belly and I was in a hurry to get the little one off to her Halloween festivities at school.

This year L wanted to be a zebra and O a giraffe.  What?  So I put my brain to work to come up with a couple costumes.  They turned out better than I had hoped so I am not complaining.

Yes, my house is messy.  Get over it.

My favorite part of their costumes was their hoofs and the mane down the back of the shirt.  They loved them and have had so much fun prancing around in them.

O had a preschool program where they sang and did actions.  It was adorable.  This is her with her cousin Lily and friend Liza.

She loves cotton candy.  I tried to get out the door without her seeing it but she pulled me over to the cotton candy booth.  For real....pulled me there.

Saturday morning I met my sister for a run.  We ended up doing twelve miles.  Uphill pretty much the whole way.  Our down was basically a quarter mile straight down.  Oh well....it was a fabulous workout and good conversations as always.  She is trying to talk me into a marathon.  I say yes if it isn't a registered race.  It takes all the fun out for me if I have to train instead of just going out for a long run.  I'm crazy I guess.  Maybe one day,  :)

Pre-run in the dark and the freezing cold.  Drink that up sista....your going to need it.

Afterwards we went over to my other sisters house to deep clean it for her.  I brought some protein powder for a quick pick me up after our run.  And extra clothes to change into so I didn't freeze.  It was my sisters birthday and she wanted her house deep cleaned for her present.  She thought we were hiring someone to come do it but we just did it ourselves so we could get her other presents as well.  Her husband got her out of the house and we came in and busted it out.  Walls, windows, fans, baseboards, floors....it was a clean house fo sho!

Mom looks pooped!  No resting woman...back to work!

I didn't get home till after eleven.  My body needed some food!!!  The hubs made me a breakfast burrito that I inhaled.  He takes care of me.  :)

We went up to Joey's sister house for a Halloween party on Saturday night.  So you get more pics of my kids in their costumes.  I dressed up for the kids and it was worth it.  They loved my costumes.  Me and the hubs were the only adults dressed up.  Cuz were the cool ones.  :)

Don't be jealous ladies.  It's all mine.  He cooks, he cleans, and he has white thighs to die for.   He made some killer chili and appetizers for the shindig.  He is a naughty boyscout....trust me.

My little zookeeper would not let me get any pictures of him the little stink.  But he looked adorable.

I could eat whatever I wanted in this costume and still feel like my pants were fittin a little loose.  It was awesome.

Uh-huh...that's right.

We took all the kids on a hayride.  Joey might have had hay in weird places after.  I've got hay in low places where the.....you get it right?  Wow...past my bedtime.

These were the killer appetizers hubs spent all afternoon while I was at a cookie decorating party with the girls.  Thanks Suzanne!  These are dates, cut in half, filled with blue cheese, wrapped in bacon, and broiled.  Weird?  Yes....but absolutely amazing.

Some of the spread.... we also had baked potatoes, chili, mummy dogs, and mozzarella eyeballs.

The barfing pumpkin.  They made this guacamole healthy style by using avocados and lots of Lima beans.  It was really, really, good.

My MIL made this cute owl cookies.  Aren't they adorable.  The kiddos love them.  My sis in law made the little witch hats in the background.  So cute.  I skipped these treats and headed straight for this....

Pumpkin cake with ice cream.  Delicious.  It made my day.  I tried to stay awake to watch Strange Brew...yes, Strange Brew with the hubs but crashed pretty hard in about ten minutes.  Sorry babe.  Happy Halloween tomorrow!!!!

A workout and a new recipe....for Xela :)

I woke up before five today.  Blah.  But I made it to spin.  I love spin....I am always a sweaty mess after which is a good thing in my book.  Then I did a workout adapted from gpp:

STAB = (shoulders, triceps, abs and biceps)

Shoulder Medley - 4 rounds
           20 front raises 15/20
           20 upright row 15/20
           20 OH press 15/20
Triceps Medley - 4 rounds
            20 narrow push-ups  BW
            20 skull crushers 15/20
            20 OH French press 15/20
Ab Medley - 4 rounds
            20 situps
            20 R side ups
            20 L side ups
            20 Superman back ext's
Biceps 21’s - 4 rounds   (see demo)
            7 bottom to half 15/20
            7 half to full 15/20
            7 full 15/20
*I only had time for three rounds of each but I did add on 9 or so 1 minute sprints between sets.

Post workout was a spinach protein shake.  Then at about ten forty five I ate this.....

1 egg, 3 egg whites, with two corn tortillas on the side.  I ate this in the car.  Not the easiest thing to do.

Then I needed some cookies.  Stat.  So I made some healthified pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.  They were delicious and I ate two right out of the oven.

Here is what I did:

Mix together:
2 cups oat flour
1 cup coconut flour
(I would have used some whole wheat flour but didn't have any or any time to grind up some more.)
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
2 Tbs. truvia
2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 egg whites
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.

These were really good.  My kids like them as well as did the hubs.  Success.

Then it was off to get a root canal!  What?!  I was sweating bullets.  I have never had one of those before and the unknown was too much.  Thank goodness I got high off the laughing gas or I would have been a shaky mess.   I sit on my kitchen floor and make sad faces when I'm worried.  Ya know...who doesn't?

When I got home the hubs made me lunch.....

Edamame for my "appetizer."  :)

And grilled cheese with tomato soup.  I shared the sandwich with Ollie.  She was hungry.  My kids are always hungry when mommy has food.

For dinner Joey cooked up some squash and I managed to throw together a side dish and some ravioli.  Big whoop.  My kids love ravioli so it wasn't too bad.

The side was brown rice with feta, craisins, pecans, spinach, salt and pepper, and a little fresh lemon juice squeezed into the mix.  Good....but not the best.  Probably cuz I didn't really want to eat after the numbness wore off.  Poor me.

The best weekend!

We seriously had the best time in Colorado.  We stayed with Joey's aunt and uncle Janet and Duane.  They spoil us...and spoil our kiddos even more.  We had such a good time exploring, relaxing, and eating the best food.  I ate good this weekend.  Really good.  Not clean....good.  I ate so much junk but it was awesome.  We enjoyed ourselves.

This is my view from my bed in the morning.  We would open up the curtains and watch the sun light up the Colorado Monument.  Gorgeous.  Then out kids would scream from the other room and ruin the moment.  :)

I worked out Friday morning and then enjoyed this for breakfast.  That honey in the background is from Duane's bees.  He harvests it.  He gave us that whole jar to take home.  Friday afternoon we headed over to my cousin Mindy's house to let our kids play with her kids.  It was so good to catch up with her.

Janet and Duane watched all the kids that might so we could go to dinner with Mindy and Phil.  We hit up some Asian joint.  I ordered some sushi and the lemongrass chicken.  Sushi was good....

But this was nasty.  I only ate a couple of bites.  I filled up on sushi.  We of course got fro-yo after.  Having babysitters and lots of people to play with makes me want to make this trip 4 times a year!

Saturday morning we biked up the Colorado Monument.  It was quite a climb but not too bad.  The weather was gorgeous and so were the views.

"Come on babe..you can make it."  This is at the beginning of the climb...probably a mile and half in or so.

Us.  I was doing great here.  My clips on my shoe came loose a little after this picture was taken.  My shoe was sliding around and being really annoying.  Fabulous.

I don't remember what this rock was called.  Maybe Independence Rock.  That sounds right.  I'm going with it.

This is us with Duane.  The pro biker.  I just get to darn scared on bike.  I don't know if I will ever be comfortable riding.  It is scary.  Is it not?

We saw lot's of these little guys.  The big horn sheep were out in full force.

Saturday night Mindy and Phil watched the kids and Janet and Duane took us to this yummy Italian restaurant.  We were there at five forty five and didn't leave till about eight thirty.  We had such a good time talking and listen to all of Duane's stories.  That guy is so animated you are never bored around him.

Sunday we took the kids on a little hike to the Mushroom rocks.  They had so much fun climbing in out, up and over rocks.  I took too many pictures.

They are serious hikers.  They do not mess around.

Janet and Duane loving my babies.  They were so sweet with my kids and my kids want to move there now.

I'm glad this little one didn't break a bone.  He was all over the place.  I thought for sure he was going to get hurt since he won't accept your help.  He does it himself!

And I'll leave you with this..............ya know, for your enjoyment.

This gives me the screamin thigh sweats.....as Duane would say.  Did I really just type that?  It's a joke peeps.

Thanks Janet and Duane for a fabulous weekend!

I gotta get going on my girls Halloween costumes.  I am way behind.  But excited for Halloween.  What are you or your kiddos being for Halloween?
