I'm sick of being sick :(

I thought I was all better.  I was wrong.  I have not done a good full on weight session all week.  I feel like crap.  I went on a run this morning with one of my gym friends.  I thought I was all good to go.  When I woke up my tummy was feeling a little off.  I figured I just needed to a'hem....use the bathroom and clear things out.  I did have success in the ladies room and felt like a new woman.  The run started out OK but by about mile uh, 1.2 I was in pain.  My tummy was clenching and I wanted to vomit on the side of the road.  I don't think I'm all the way recovered from last weekend.  As today wore on I had a raging headache and now a sore throat.  Fabulous.  Soooooo, I have decided to take tomorrow off.  I honestly don't know if I can do it but I am going to try.  All the way off.  No cardio.  No weights.  Just rest.  I know I need to but it is so hard for me.

Breakfast today was oats with plain yogurt, cinnamon, and bananas.  I gobbled it all up sick tummy and all.

For a snack I had some plain yogurt and I whipped up some chocolate protein granola for the top.  I don't have exact measurements because I kinda just threw it together.  But I will make it again and get the recipe.  But here is what I did anyway:

Wet ingredients: unsweetened applesauce (1/3 cup), peanut butter (1/4 cup), vanilla (1 tsp), agave (1 Tbs).  Mix together.

Dry ingredients: Oats (1 1/2 cups) coconut (1/4 cup), flax seeds (2 Tbs), cocoa (1/4 cup), protein powder (one and a half scoops).  **Remember these are not exact measurements!

I forgot to add my protein powder so I had to sprinkle it on after I had spread it all out in the pan.  Then I re-mixed it all up.

Spread on cookie sheet and bake at 300 for 20-25 minutes or so.  Stir once or twice during the baking process.  This was delicious.  I loved it.

Lunch was a green salad topped with green chile chicken and a little homemade poppyseed dressing.  Yum!

After lunch I had the awesome experience of taking myself, the hubs, and the little ones to the dentist for three hours.  We all did great during our appointments, it was waiting for the others to all get done so we could get our starving butts outta there that was hard.  We finally finished up and hit Kneaders on the way home.  Dinner for me was a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread, no mayo, no cheese.  I also stole some bites of the grilled cheese my kids got that I paid extra to have ham put on and discovering when we got home that ham wasn't on it.  Sweet sauce.  I had a handful of my chocolate granola for a treat after.

Wish me luck on the resting tomorrow.  I think I can handle it.  :)

Pumpkin time

I did the class yesterday.  It was hard.  But I'm not sore today so it was not a complete success.  I am going to give it one more go and see how it is next Monday.

Today I woke up at 4:45 in order to get my booty to spin.  I love spin.  I sweat so much and feel like I get such a great workout.  However, when I woke up this morning I wanted nothing more than to crawl back into bed.  I was so tired and in a funk for some reason.  But I made myself go and I am glad I did.  I was planning on lifting after but that didn't happen so much.  I did 3 sets of 15 TRX push-ups, 3 sets of 15 TRX rollouts, 3 sets of 15 woodchoppers, and 60 pushups.  Then I was done!  My body was tired.  I felt like I just needed to go home and let it rest.  I got home around 6:30 and went back to bed till eight thirty.  Thanks to the hubs who got the little one off to school.  :)

Some meals/snacks I have eaten the last day and a half.....

Pumpkin oats with banana and a blender shake for breakfast.

Tuna sandwich on the go.   I'm so glad I had thought ahead and made this.  We had a funeral yesterday and by the time it was over I was starving.  But no worries....I had a sandwich in my car!

Dinner last night was soup, salad and bread.  (not pictured)

Breakfast this morning was just a piece of peanut butter and honey toast.  Boring....but I was in a bleh mood, remember?

I felt like I needed some veggies at lunchtime but didn't really want any.  The solution....throw two huge handfuls of spinach in a protein shake.  Wa-la!  Veggies are in my tummy!

Last night we had my bro and sis in law, and my neighbor over for our "annual pumpkin carving night."  I usually let the kiddos paint their pumpkins but we did a different approach last night.  Pipe cleaners, pom poms, and markers.  The mess was minimal and the kids loved it.

Olives "curly cues" and big spider.  Her pumpkin is so adorable on my front porch.

The beginning of Meghan's monster.  By the end this thing was covered in fluff and had horns and all.

See?  Not too big of a mess...right?

The "men" still carve their pumpkins.  Even with their disgusted faces.

This is Marcus with his nasty stash wondering why men ever become gynecologists.  We told him to do his gyno face.

I'm off to bunko tonight.  So far so good on my no sugar.  Bunko is always sugar overload and Lyndsey heaven but I will be strong!  :)

10.3 miles

Yesterday morning I was planning on going on a run with my sister.  When I woke up it was cold and dark and raining.  I texted her, "you still want to go?"  She replied, "sure, maybe we will only end up doing two miles but let's test it out."  So I drove over her way and forced myself to get out of my warm car.  I. was. freezing.!  We started out and I felt OK but a little sluggish.  Thankfully I was warm by mile one and got to take off my jacket.  We decided since it wasn't raining hard we would try and do ten.  I felt really great legs wise and lungs wise but my tummy was not feeling the greatest.  We finished at 10.3 miles with a eight thirty pace.

After 10.3 miles

When I got home I continued to feel kinda yucky.  I made myself go to the gym and lift but was only there forty minutes.  I ran a couple errands with the fam feeling crappier by the hour.  By one o clock I was sick in bed and did not get out till the next morning.  Except to use the bathroom or to barf.  I had some kind of tummy flu and I'm sure running 10 + miles on top of it was not the best thing.  I feel much better now.  My hubs did bring me breakfast in bed this morning.  He thought I could use it after yesterday.  It was delicious!  Thanks baby.

Apparently he thought I needed lot's of calories in me.  :)

I did pretty good on my goals last week.  I ate less sugar, I got in plenty of water, lifted five days a week, and was obviously able to run by the end of the week.  I am going to make one goal this week.  I am going to do the no sugar thing again.  But that is going to be my one and only goal this week.  I need a detox from it.  So......I'll try.  We will see.  I am going to make this goal a hundred times and one time I will do it.

I'm trying out a new class tomorrow at the gym.  I might die.  Wish me luck!

Life is busy

I feel like my life is crazy these days!  Since I didn't get a post in yesterday I will do a little re-cap of the past 24 hours.  Yesterdays workout started out with twenty minutes on the stairmaster.

Then gpp:

Three rounds of:

1 min hollow rock (count reps down + back =1)
1 min hanging side ups  (count reps R + L = 1)
1 min weighted situps (close body) 15/20 (count reps)
1 min weighted back extensions 7/12 (count reps)
1 min reverse burpee 15/20 (count reps)

Rest 1 min between each round.
The clock does NOT stop between exercises.

Holy smokes.  This one was harder than it looks.  My core was definitely feeling it.

Then I did a little chest.

Bench press-15
DB press-15
DB incline fly's-15

When I got home I shoved a oat ball in my mouth as fast as I could before having a normal breakfast.

I have seen these all over blogland but just threw what I had on hand in them.  These ones had raw oats, agave, peanut butter, almond butter, chopped cocoa almonds, coconut, craisins, and raisins.  Too bad I didn't have any dark chocolate to throw in.  These are a great pick up snack, pre workout fuel, or post workout fuel.

One of my on the go snacks.  These bars are great.  Lots of protein, not too many calories, zero sugar, (But ya know that is not really true.  It's "fake" sugar in there but still.  Any sweetener isn't the best.)  I think protein bars can be good and bad.  Good for a once and awhile pick me up snack.  Not good if you are eating them everyday like candy bars.  :)  Just my opinion.

It's a good thing I take lot's of vitamins because my vegetable intake has been really low the last two days.  For lunch I made myself eat vegetables and protein.  Eggs with a salad and veggies on the side.  I actually liked it.  They didn't taste as bad as they sounded at the moment.  I really do love vegetables....some days I just feel off and the thought of vegetables is no good.

We went over to my sisters a little later for my nieces b day.  Isn't that cake cute?  I shared a little cake and ice cream with the plumber below.

You can't blame him.  He sees his daddy's crack all the time.  He thinks he's in style.  He pulls down his own pants just so it will show.  If ya got it, flaunt it.

Lets move onto this morning.  I had all hopes of going to spin this morning.  But I slept in.  Oops.  I got to the gym around six fifteen.  Weird how that's sleeping in.  I wanted to workout back today.  Here's what I did:

Superset:
Lat pulldowns-15
Single leg back row with pulley-10 each side
*repeat four times

Superset:
Incline Prone reverse dumbell fly's-15
Barbell row-20
*repeat four times

T-bar row-15
repeat three times

I threw in a couple of pull ups between sets.  After lifting I made myself do cardio since I skipped spin.  1 hour on the stairmaster.  I was good after five minutes but I made myself do it.  Once twenty minutes passed I was good to go.  I felt great afterwords and didn't regret it!

Shake this morning was coconut water, unsweetened almond milk, chocolate protein powder, and ice.  Straight up good.

We didn't have anything on the agenda for this morning.  What?  A free morning?  That is unheard around here.  We took full advantage.  The girls and I did our toes and the little man looked on with jealousy.

We wanted to do Halloween toes.  Olive and I stuck with that.  Lucy of course changed her mind when she saw the silver/pink fishnet.  Olive did purple/black horizontal stripe for Halloween and I did Halloween words.  My girls love when I do their toes.

Hopefully going out on a date tonight!  Crossing my fingers.

No creative title here....

I made pumpkin pie and turkey chili today.  Fall is here.  I have loved the rainy weather we have had today.  Ask me again in four months how I am liking it and I will probably cuss.  Here's my workout of the day:

GPP:

4 rounds for time:

800m run
20 bench dips
20 pushups (strict)
20 OH DB push press 15/20

Then I focused on tri's since I had already done a couple sets on that muscle group.

Rope high pulley tricep extension-15
Single arm tricep pull down on pulley-15 each arm (I don't use a handle on this one.  I hold onto the little black ball thing.)
Overhead press on pulley-15
*repeat three times

Tricep kickback on pulley-15 each arm (again, I just hold onto the little black ball)
Woodchoppers-15 each side
*repeat three times

Skull crushers on bench-10
Narrow grip chest press-10
Weighted sit ups-15
*repeat three times

Side Plank 15 each side
*repeat twice

I didn't do anymore cardio after the two miles in the gpp workout.  I came home and was starving.  I attempted to make pumpkin pancakes but failed miserably.  Really.  It was bad.  So I threw the batter in a cup and "baked" it in the microwave.  The result......?

A big pile of dog poo with a side of bananas and yogurt.  I know it looks really nasty but it actually was quite good and had the texture of cheesecake so I'm not complaining.  I really liked eating it for breakfast.

Lunch/snack was a bowl of plain greek yogurt with Kashi on top.  I was not in veggie mood today.  As you can tell by what I ate next...

I snacked on pumpkin pie filling and whipped cream along with a protein bar all afternoon.  Oh man, it was excellent.

When it came time for dinner I wasn't that hungry from a belly full of pumpkin but I tried to eat a little bit of "real" food.  I had turkey chili in the crockpot so I grabbed a little bowl and made myself eat it.

Then I got to go to my first guitar lesson.  I have been wanting to take guitar forever and finally got all set up.  I was nervous to have a guy for a teacher but he was way normal in my book.  Long hair, thrift store shirt, a couple tats, just the kinda guy I feel comfortable around.  I am serious here.  He felt just like one of my old friends and I am excited to go back.  I couldn't think of a better fit for a teacher for me.  Hopefully I can pick up on it pretty easily.

As I was driving home I really, really, really, wanted to go on a short run in the rain.  I love running in the rain...not the wind or snow but the rain I love.  The hubs said it was OK if I went so I went home and changed and took off out the door.  It was a gorgeous evening.  I felt great.  It was a great way to end the day.

Here is a sweaty picture for your enjoyment.  Some of it was rain...most of it was sweat.  :)  But it's definitely a happy momma.

The Dentist

I have a toothache.  It sucks.  The whole right side of my face hurts.  I have broken out like crazy.  And I can't sleep because it hurts.  Waaaaa...so I made an appointment to go see the dentist.  Then I went ahead and made appointments for the whole fam damn.  I have to wait a week!  I'm going to die.  ON to happier subjects....I got a good workout in this morning:

Spin class for one hour (more like sprints for one hour.)  That class was insane.  You know its good when your done and your shirt is soaking wet and you have to put on dry clothes to lift in.  Ahhhh, good times.

Then I did legs with the time I had left:

45 pds-10
95 pds-10
115 pds-8
135 pds-6

Side Lunges-10 (each leg)
*repeat two times

Pulley leg extension-15 (each leg)
*repeat three times

Pike crunch TRX-15
Woodchoppers-15
*repeat two times

Breakfast was a coconut chocolate shake.  I container coconut water, cocoa, protein powder, ice.  Yum!

I had a protein bar and half a banana when I was out and about.  When I got home I made the usual breakfast burrito.  Blah, blah blah.  :)

Dinner tonight was delish.  Turkey burgers loaded with veggies with veggies and dip on the side.

I am addicted to my homemade oat balls.  I would post the recipe except for they change every time I make them.  Basically start with row oats, add peanut butter, almond butter, raisins, craisins, dark chocolate, agave, chopped nuts, flaxseeds, etc.  Mix altogether and form into balls.  I keep them in a airtight container in the fridge and snack on them all the time.  I also don't use every one of those ingredients every time.  Just whatever I am in the mood for,  Ya know?

A perfect Sunday + Weekly goals

Today was such a great day!  We lounged out at home all day.  It was conference weekend which means laying in your jimmies all day and not even as going as far to wipe off the day old mascara under your eyes.  Awesome.

We did a lot of snuggling.  A lot of tickling.  A lot of reading.  And a lot of being lazy.

We built an amazing fortress in our front room and the kids played in it all day long.  I think this needs to be a daily thing.  :)

Hello there.  They even got to color in there until the little monster found the markers.  He turned himself green.

The girls made their own monsters.  These made me smile so big.  I loved them.  Hilarious.

For lunch we made a bean dip thing with homemade tortilla chips.  Fat free refried beans, ff sour cream, one mashed up avocado, salsa, cilantro, and olives.  We threw on cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, and taco seasoning.  We put some cayenne pepper on the grown ups side.

To make the tortilla chips I used these but you can use corn or flour tortillas as well.  Spray them with Pam or toss with olive oil.  Add sea salt and chili powder and throw them in the oven for a little bit.  Till they are brown and crispy.

Then dip and dip and dip.  Yum!

I made these pumpkin cinnamon rolls and I am not going to disclose how many I consumed.  I don't make cinnamon rolls very often because they are my fav.  I have no limit to how many can fit in my belly.

So when I made french dip sandwiches, sweet potato and rutabaga fries, and salad for dinner....I couldn't even eat it.  This was my plate.  I think I ate three bites of my sandwich and then had to leave the table.  I was sick.  Pathetic.

As far as the weekly goals went:
No sugar-didn't happen
No eating after seven-didn't happen a couple of nights
100 oz of water daily-did it
5 days of lifting-did six
Twenty miles of cardio-probably more like 25
Date with hubby-kind of  :)

Here are this weeks goals:

5 lifting days
100 oz of water
Be able to run by the end of the week
Eat vegetables in two meals everyday
Less sugar...:)  Maybe three times this week?
Have a good week everybody.  Tomorrow is back to the early grind.
